Nation's Porn Industry on Orange AlertJune 28th, 2003
SANTA BARBARA, CA -- Today the Adult Entertainment Industry Association ratcheted up the adult entertainment advisory level to "orange", indicating severe risk and requesting extreme vigilance.
"We're asking everyone to stay on guard," said Beth Apples, AEIA director. Everyone knows the five-color Homeland Security advisory system, but few people seem to know that the nation's adult entertainment industry has its own color coded alert system. Some independent dealers draw ire at the system and demand subsidies for increased costs during high alert levels. "I had to go $37 overbudget securing these video racks, and another $15 on the toys," said merchant Albert Cross. "And I don't even know what that means -- vigilance against what? This is pornography." |
