WorldCom Restates Planck's Constant August 9th, 2002
In a new wave of multi-billion dollar accounting restatements at WorldCom this week, the giant announced that it was restating its measurement of Plancks Constant, or 6.26 x 10^-34. WorldCom had previously reported that the number in its offices measured $20.
It turned out that Planck was right all along: his constant is what it is, everywhere in reality. Which apparently includes corporate boardrooms, said Julia Sarias, a Bears Stern analyst.
The constant is a measure of the smallest size of an energy packet at the quantum level and some investors have called for investigation into why Merrill Lynch maintained a buy rating on the stock despite that the number was denominated in dollars and not Joule-seconds.
