Pope Ages 1000 Years; Looks The Same, Onlookers Say July 29th, 2002
GUATEMALA CITY -- This afternoon the pope spontaneously aged 1000 years in front of a crowd of thousands who say he doesn't really look all that different than he did before. The pontiff arrived from Canada to give a message of peace in this third world country, and onlookers say the transformation occurred only minutes after taking the podium, and was in fact barely noticeable.
"He really looks pretty much the same," said a Roman Catholic Guatemalan man who attended the ceremony. "You kind of tell he's 1082 and not 82, but there really isn't that much difference."
"The scientific ramifications of a spontaneous age transformation are incalculable," said a scientist from the University of Michigan Cognition and Aging Laboratory. "Still, it is amazing that he really doesn't look all that different."
