WASHINGTON, DC -- In a historic demotion, Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan has been stripped of his title of federal employee of the month as the current economy seems to collapse around him. This is only the latest indicator that the glimmer of Greenspan's oily head
may be fading for goverment and industry officials alike. Vice President Cheney reluctantly lowered a plaque feauturing Greenspan's image above the "Go, Team" inspirational slogan featured in a special room, or "shrine" to the Fed chairman in the White House in which a lamp was kept lit burning oil continuously and small animal offerings were made daily. The Vice president said, "this is a sad day for us here at the government, not so much because we are all very rich and experiencing adverse wealth effect but because we are concerned for our friend."
Greenspan, the first to hold the employee of the month title for 97 months consecutively, was rumored to replace Salmon Chase, Secreatary of the Treasury under Abraham Lincoln, on the 10,000 dollar bill, a honor seldom granted to alive non-presidents. Ronald Reagan is still expected to be placed on the $100,000 bill replacing Harry Truman.
