Heston Sets Up Media Hotline March 17th, 2001
AUSTIN, TX -- Irked by constant requests for comments and interviews from members of the news media regarding a slew of recent school shootings, Charleton Heston, president of the National Rifle Association has taken actions to safeguard his privacy.
"All last night I just kept repeating, 'The school should have had more armed guards,' over and over for every reporter that called me," Heston said at the beginning of his statement. He later said he has set up a special hotline for which callers would be played a recorded message of Heston's voice stating: "Guns are not the problem. Guns are the solution." Members of the media were invited to call the hotline for Mr. Heston's comments on any issue.
